Today’s interview with attractive fitness champion Gabi Halm delves into the topic of fitness and immunity. At a time when we are inundated with all sorts of advice, she’s the one to reveal her personal approach to staying healthy through exercise, diet and her relationship with our carnosine. From her own experience, she stresses the importance of a balanced lifestyle and its impact on the immune system. Whether you are a beginner or an active athlete, Gabi will offer interesting perspectives on how to properly incorporate sport into your life and what to expect in terms of immunity.
Maybe it’s a bit easier for me, as “thanks” to a genetic disease, I’ve had a completely different regimen than normal since I was a little girl. Of course, as a child I went through tonsillitis, allergies, pneumonia and I was not one of the healthiest children. Although back then, no one knew that, among other things, I didn’t inherit a healthy foundation. In my case, I am also very lucky to have a wise mother, who was not satisfied with the knowledge that the same thing works for every person. She suspected even then that if I got 3 antibiotics in a row, they might not work. So when she didn’t know much about diet, the emphasis was always on vegetables and fruits, except that back then they didn’t use all sorts of growth accelerators and other chemicals. Nothing lasted long even in the refrigerator, but you knew what you were eating. Whatever your predisposition, whether genetic or autoimmune disease, your salvation is maximally good immunity and cell protection. A balanced lifestyle, which means sport, good diet and sleep, helps you to do this.
The first group are people who do nothing and simply sport is not for them. It’s true that you can have good genetics and not be prone to disease, but mostly this group is less resistant to anything. Try to remember that we move mainly for pleasure, and the same pleasure you get maybe from chocolate or a glass of wine, but with different results . The evidence so far is that recreational sport, or adequate physical exercise 3 to 4 timest per week has a stimulating effect on the immune system, as long as it lasts between 15 and 60 minutes. The intensity of maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) should be 40 to 60%.So if you think 15 minutes is not even a workout, it’s always better for your immunity than sitting on the couch with your legs splayed out drinking a drink or debating whether or not to exercise.
It’s worse with people who train more, going to different competitions, or are even top athletes. Prolonged and intense training that you do more than 5 times a week at more than 80% VO2 max is immunosuppressive, so translated, this means that your immunity can deteriorate. This is not to encourage you to train less or stop competing, of course. Since I do fitness and have metabolic issues among other problems, I sometimes have to have up to 14 intense workouts a week. I exercise more than I should, but on the other hand, I don’t get sick. As I wrote above, the basis to everything is diet, but if you can’t eat a kilo of homemade meat/any other alternative, and more than a kilo of healthy homemade chemically untreated vegetables every a day, you won’t be getting enough vitamins (Of course, everyone is different and has different dietary preferences, but the necessary doses of vitamins and minerals are very hard to get into you these days, especially with today’s allergies.) And I haven’t even mentioned healthy fats and such. That’s why I always choose the right nutritional supplements. Of course, they are not a substitute for a varied diet, but they make up the part you need daily to get the ideal dose and keep you at the right level of what you need in your body. That is, as long as you play sports and eat healthy. Well, in this case, for example, an extra cheap vitamin C will not really have vitamin C in it, but a chemical imitation of it. That’s why if I really want supplements that “work”, I pay attention to the company as a whole. I also don’t expect a miracle within a week and so it is with carnosine. I had to wait over half a year for it to help me, and I was even sick once, but thanks to carnosine I was fit much faster than regular people with the same problem. Because it has a lot of antioxidants and that’s the troops that don’t just protect cells from aging. Of course, it’s up to each individual how they decide, but all I can say from my own experience is that you really only have one health. You can’t buy it, but you can buy anything to keep it as good as possible. I recommend it even to those who have decided not to eat meat. Don’t worry, carnosine is good for vegetarians and others, but even though you may be fine with that diet, you should be careful to supplement with nutrients in the form of carnosine, for example. For example, my mom is vegan and has a myriad of allergies. So even what she could, she can’t eat. She started taking Carnosine EXTRA before I did and you can’t imagine what she does if she accidentally runs out and doesn’t have a supply (which she usually does). She says she can feel it after 4/5 days off. Not that she went to die and ended up on tubes and she’s also not the type to suck it up, but as she says, “she’s not that spry” since she also exercises and she’s 70 and a bone transplant + severe diagnoses. If you saw her, you wouldn’t even dream of that age and the fact that she shouldn’t be alive at all anymore.
Of course you can find several manufacturers on the market, but Carnomed’s carnosine gradually releases the active ingredient over 8 to 12 hours. It has a significantly higher quality bioavailability and that makes it unique. But you won’t find out until you see for yourself.
In simple summary, Carnosine EXTRA is important for anyone who cares about their health. Don’t expect cellular support only when something goes wrong. That’s usually when treatment is needed and that’s not where you want to get. Of course, it’s never too late, even if you already have health problems and even treatment, there’s always a right time to take carnosine, the results just won’t come overnight. Of course, a balanced diet is also important. But more on that next time 🙂
