Hyperactivity and ADHD are not the same

Hyperactivity and ADHD are not the same thing. Obsessiveness, defiance or defiance of authority in children has been attributed to bad parenting in the past. As a result, children often ended up in institutions where they should have been corrected. In many cases, however, they suffered from psychological disorders known today as hyperactivity and ADHD. Although these diagnoses are closely related, they are not exactly the same.

Does it start with hyperactivity?

Yes and no. But the truth remains that hyperactive children are much more likely to also suffer from ADHD. Hyperactivity (excessive activity) can manifest itself on both a mental and physical level. Cases of a combination of both are also common. The child talks a lot, jumps from thought to thought, acts spatially or even brashly to those around him/her. He does not stay in one place, he constantly has the need to move, run, jump, etc. A parent may therefore notice similar symptoms quite early, before the child joins the group. He does not last long at any game, and never completes the tasks assigned to him. A hyperactive child is impatient, he wants everything at once. If pressure is put on his attention, he may even behave aggressively.

What is ADHD then?

Simply put, ADHD could be said to be a combination of hyperactivity, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and excessive impulsivity. The abbreviation is a designation of the English term Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. According to statistics, up to 7% of children suffer from it, but mostly boys. The first symptoms can be seen already in infancy, but it can be confirmed by a doctor at the age of three at the earliest. It becomes fully apparent with the onset of school, when new and more demanding tasks are placed on the child; usually between the ages of 6 and 9. Some symptoms (nervousness, reduced ability to concentrate, mood changes) may persist into adulthood.

How to help yourself and your child

Hyperactivity and ADHD are a burdensome ordeal for any family. Parents and children face judgment in public, even bullying at school. The key to coping with this challenge is, above all, the patience of the parent and the whole family. Experts agree that regular training of thinking and concentration in the form of interesting games and circles helps too. Suitable help can also be found in selected nutritional supplements. The substance carnosine supports the central nervous system, improves concentration, logical thinking and memory, which makes it very popular in the treatment of hyperactivity and ADHD.

You’ll find it in our Carnosine EXTRA, which is unique in its six-ingredient formula full of powerful antioxidants. You can order it in our shop.
