Summer weather and the holiday season are just around the corner
The layers of clothes are fading and our skin is almost always in plain sight. Have you been looking after it properly during the winter? Inclement weather or the wrong materials could have done it a lot of harm. Do you know how to get it in order quickly?
The skin especially needs the right vitamins. The largest organ of the human body, its beauty comes from within. If you don’t get enough of the necessary nutrients through your diet, premature wrinkles, pigment spots, dry and scaly patches, redness can start to appear.
So which vitamins are important?
- Vitamin A – helps to renew skin cells and thus prevent wrinkles; it also regulates sebum production and acne. It is found in carrots, milk, egg yolks, spinach, broccoli.
- Beta-carotene – provides protection from harmful ultraviolet rays. Sources include carrots, apricots, as well as other yellow, orange and green fruits and vegetables.
- B vitamins (riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid) – help to maintain healthy nails and hair, prevent drying or cracking of the skin, and help with inflammation. They can be found in legumes, poultry meat, milk, nuts and liver.
- Vitamin C – especially important for smokers as it helps with skin renewal and removing unsightly brown spots. The best sources for its intake are citrus fruits, sauerkraut and broccoli.
- Vitamin D – regulates pigment production. Its main source is sunlight. As little as 10 minutes in the sun will provide the optimal daily dose. It is also found in fish.
- Vitamin E – a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from the negative effects of free radicals. These can include premature wrinkle formation, loss of elasticity and overall skin vitality. It is found in spinach, cauliflower, carrots, as well as sunflower and olive oil.
- Vitamin K – stimulates blood circulation and helps eliminate puffiness and circles under the eyes. It is found, for example, in cow’s milk and cheese.
