Slovaks die of cancer too often: an exceptional discovery by a Slovak scientist may help

In addition to genetics or an unhealthy lifestyle, chronic inflammation, which is caused by an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in the body, can also be a cause of disease. Therefore, it is very important to supply the body with the right weapons that can fight these unfavourable factors.It was a Slovak scientist who participated in the discovery of a substance that has protective effects on our body and is suitable for the prevention of cancer.

The power of broccoli has been revealed by a Slovak scientist

Broccoli has long been perceived as an anti-cancer vegetable, but few people know that the Slovak scientist prof. RNDr. Katarína Horáková, DrSc. It was she who for years has been researching the effects of the substances contained in this vegetable and found their positive impact on the human body.The result of her research is the combination of two substances – glucoraphanin and myrosinase.This creates sulforaphane, which has several positive effects in the fight against cancer and other diseases.

“Sulforaphane has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. It thus protects us from the primary causes of disease. It is a small molecule that gets everywhere in the body and its absorption rate is up to 80 percent, which is very rare. As far as cancer is concerned – you could say that it ‘turns on’ the genes that prevent cancer and ‘turns off’ those that help in the development of cancer andspread,” explains Professor Horáková, who started working on sulforaphane several decades ago and whose findings have been confirmed by many other studies.

A natural miracle as both prevention and treatment support

Sulforaphane increases the natural detoxification processes in our body several times over. It makes cells more resistant to oxidative stress and damage. It creates a protective shield against cancer and supports immunity. It is suitable not only as cancer prevention, but also as a cancer treatment support.Studies have confirmed the anti-cancer effects of sulforaphane in prostate, breast, colorectal and lung cancers, for example.

“It has even been found to stimulate the effect of some cytostatics, i.e. cancer treatment drugs,” says Professor Horáková. Cytostatics can have very unpleasant side effects in the form of vomiting, diarrhoea or hair loss.”With sulforaphane, however, it was enough to give lower doses of some of thecytostatics, and therefore the side effects were milder,” explains Professor Horáková. This can have a big impact on quality of life. Some studies also suggest that sulforaphane even inhibits the growth of metastases, for example in breast cancer. It is therefore advisable to consult a doctor about the possible benefits of sulforaphane.

Sulforaphane occurs naturally in broccoli sprouts. In order for your body to get as much of it as possible, you would need to chew large quantities of raw broccoli regularly.
