Sulforaphane EXTRA brings a chance in cancer prevention! – Doc., MUDr. Eliška Kubíková, PhD.,MPH

[button : interested : interested : CM135]

Scientific studies and research suggest that sulforaphane has various anticarcinogenic properties. It has the ability to induce detoxification and elimination of carcinogenic substances from the body, thereby helping to protect cells from DNA damage and tumor formation. Sulforaphane can also act as an effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, helping to reduce oxidative stress and inflammatory processes that are associated with cancer.

Today we will talk about sulforaphane with oncologist doc. MUDr. ELIŠKA KUBÍKOVÁ, PhD.

What is sulforaphane and what role does it play in our body?

Internal inflammation is associated with many diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, and even various cancers. Inflammation is the body’s natural response to damage or infection. However, chronic inflammation can be harmful and contribute to the development of these diseases. Sulforaphane may exert its anti-inflammatory effects by affecting various signaling pathways in the body that are associated with the inflammation response. For example, sulforaphane may activate a protein called erythroid nuclear factor 2-like (Nrf2), which helps protect cells from inflammatory damage. It can also inhibit the activities of enzymes that are involved in inflammatory processes.

And what are the effects of sulforaphane on human health?

Sulforaphane has shown many interesting effects. One of them is its antioxidant activity, which helps to neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress in the body. Furthermore, sulforaphane has anti-inflammatory properties that may be beneficial in fighting various inflammatory and oncological diseases. For example, research suggests that sulforaphane may help with inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Sulforaphane has also been shown to have potential in alleviating inflammation of the heart muscles and improving metabolic markers in metabolic syndrome.Another significant effect of sulforaphane is its ability to activate the so-called genetic detoxification system, which means that it helps the body remove toxic substances and carcinogens. Studies suggest that sulforaphane may have potential in the prevention of certain cancers such as breast, colon, lung or prostate cancer.

How is myrosinase related to the effects of sulforaphane?

Myrosinase is an enzyme that plays a key role in the formation of sulforaphane in our body. When we chew or digest foods containing glucosinolates, myrosinase is activated and breaks down glucosinolates into sulforaphane and other substances. This reaction takes place in special cells of the plant. It is important to ensure proper myrosinase activity to ensure sulforaphane formation and its effects.

How can sulforaphane be used in medicine?

Sulforaphane has potential as a supplement or supportive therapy in various fields of medicine. As a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory substance, it can help in the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with inflammation, such as heart disease, diabetic neuropathy or autoimmune diseases. Further research is focused on the potential use of sulforaphane in neurology, particularly in protecting the brain from neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It has been shown that sulforaphane can protect brain cells from damage and inflammation. Sulforaphane EXTRA with activated myrosinase enzyme and glucoraphanin is an excellent opportunity for complementary therapy as well as an effective nutraceutical for prevention against both inflammation and cancer.

This interview really gave us a lot of interesting insights. Thank you again for participating and sharing your knowledge.
