The active ingredient was first discovered in the late 1950s by Slovak scientist Prof. RNDr. Katarína Horáková, DrSc., who studied the anti-cancer effect of natural sulforaphane on human cancer cells in vitro.
Sulforaphane is found in broccoli, has physiological benefits and provides protection against chronic diseases. It is found in broccoli in the form of glucoraphanin. To utilise its effects, the enzyme myrosinase is required, which converts glucoraphanin into sulforaphane in the body and allows its benefits to be utilised. Sulforaphane helps prevent the onset, growth and spread of several serious diseases, including silent diagnoses affecting the breast, prostate, colon, skin, lungs, stomach and bladder.
